Matthew Farley,  Executive Director

Matthew is third full time Executive Director of CTCC since being founded in 1997.
Mr. Farley most recently held the position of associate director for community outreach, Department of Student Activities at the University of Connecticut (UConn), Storrs campus.  In that post, Farley oversaw the coordination of non-credit bearing community service and service-learning initiatives that engaged over 2,500 students annually.  During his ten years at UConn Farley has supported multiple community engagement initiatives including, in his current capacity as chair of the UConn’s Public Engagement Forum, a university-wide group of faculty, staff and administrators committed to furthering UConn’s public, land-grant mission.  During Matt’s tenure, UConn was recognized with three awards by the Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service for the breadth and depth of student involvement in community service: Katrina Compassion Award (2006), General Community Service Award “With Distinction” (2011), and President’s Award winner (2012). The Presidential Award is the highest honor that a university can receive for its work in service-learning programs, civic engagement, and commitment to volunteerism. Farley has a BS in Business Administration from Stonehill College and a Masters in Public Administration from UConn.

Katie Coutu, Program Manager

Katie is the manger of our AmeriCorps VISTA program along with office operations. Prior to becoming the program manager she was CTCC’s first AmeriCorps VISTA Leader.  Katie has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast and Electronic Communication from Marquette University in Wisconsin. She completed a year of AmeriCorps VISTA service with Habitat for Humanity of New York State, where she served as their Communications Specialist.

Sam Rigotti, AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

Sam began his Leader service with us in February 2013.  He will  plan and implement VISTA trainings and Service Day events (MLK Day, AmeriCorps Week), assist in recruiting the 2013-14 VISTA group, coordinate monthly and quarterly reports, maintaining our VISTA blog, and support and empower our VISTA team. Sam is also assisting our office with financial development: research and grant coordination

Sam is from New Castle, PA. He is a 2010 graduate of Allegheny College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies. He also holds a Master’s degree in Legislative Affairs from The George Washington University. He previously served as a VISTA with the Bayfront Maritime Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. He enjoys biking, boating, and keeping up with political news.

Megan Lenzzo, AmeriCorps VISTA Member Coordinator

As CTCC’s first AmeriCorps VISTA Member Coordinator and newest addition to the team, Megan will serve alongside Sam to ensure that our VISTA team is developing authentic relationships between community partners and institutions of higher education. Before serving with CTCC, Megan served with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) in Sacramento, California as a Team Leader for seven Corps Members.

Megan is a 2012 graduate of the University of Hartford with a B.A. in Public Relations and Advertising. After attending an Alternative Spring Break Trip in New Orleans in 2007 to assist with disaster relief from Hurricane Katrina, Megan found her passion for helping others. Megan looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm for service to students and the VISTA team throughout the year.
