Programs Overview

We have partnered with the Corporation for National and Community Service since 2008 to assist member campuses in increasing the number of faculty and students making a difference through volunteer service and service-learning.

Our AmeriCorps programs are open to all CTCC members (Summer Associates are only available to current VISTA host sites).  If you are interested in the AmeriCorps programs or have questions please contact Katie Coutu, CTCC Program Manager.

AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTA members focus on creating sustainable programs that will become institutionalized on their campus after the VISTA project period has expired. These programs are designed to have a measurable impact on issues affecting impoverished populations in the local community. Our VISTAs work focuses on the following issues: economic opportunity, education, and capacity building.

AmeriCorps Student Leaders in Service (ASLIS)
ASLIS  is a regional effort to engage students in meaningful service with local communities. Administered by the Massachusetts Campus Compact, ASLIS  is an AmeriCorps Education Award only program which engages college students as part-time AmeriCorps members.  ASLIS,  empowers college students to connect campuses and communities through active citizenship and service. As AmeriCorps members, college students will each provide direct service to community organizations.

AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates
VISTA Summer Associates serve full-time for eight weeks and allow existing host sites to supplement their anti-poverty activities with an infusion of “hands-on VISTAs” during the summer months. Unlike year-round VISTAs, Summer Associates can perform direct service activities.  The summer program is a prime opportunity to introduce individuals, particularly college age students, to national service with the hope it will lead to their participation in full-time programs later on
