AJCU Communication Conference 2014
Fairfield University is proud to play host to the 2014 AJCU Communication Conference. Updates and news related to the conference will be added to this page up until the Conference date.
When: Wednesday July 16 through Saturday July 19. While the final conference schedule is still being solidified, the meeting will begin at 5 PM on Wednesday with a welcome reception with Fairfield University President Jeffrey von Arx SJ and will conclude with a 4 PM Mass on Saturday.
Conference participation: We welcome submissions for panels, papers, presentations, creative exhibition, and just ideas of topics that should be discussed. Please send any submissions or ideas to Dr. David Gudelunas, chair of the conference (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Accommodations: Conference participants will be housed in a newer residence hall on campus (and a former Jesuit residence) 42 Bellarmine. Sessions and meetings will also be held at 42 Bellarmine.
Cost: Conference cost is $350 per person. This cost includes overnight accommodations, all meals and a boat trip to Sheffield Island in Norwalk, CT for a traditional Connecticut clambake! Please note that dinner and accommodations are not covered for Saturday night. There is an additional fee for guests wishing to stay Saturday night ($60) and you can select this option when registering for the conference. Other Activities: In addition to visiting a lighthouse from 1868 (and listed on the National Register of Historic Places) and a boat ride through Norwalk Harbor and the Long Island Sound, we will have a guided tour of the Bellarmine Museum of Art at Fairfield.
Transit to Fairfield: Any of the NYC area airports are easily accessible to Fairfield University (LaGuardia, JFK, Newark NJ, New Haven CT, Hartford and White Plains). Fairfield is about one hour from NYC. We are located just minutes from the Bridgeport, CT Amtrak station and Fairfield has service on the MetroNorth Railroad direct to Grand Central Terminal. We are currently working to secure discounted shared van service from the NYC area airports. Details will be available closer to the conference date. Campus maps and directions can be accessed here. Parking is widely available on campus close to the conference venue.
Conference Schedule: Will be available in early summer. The program begins 7/16 at 5 PM and ends 7/19 at 5 PM.
