Rev. Richard Ryscavage, S.J., director of the Center for Faith and Public Life, interviewed on Catholic TV

Fr. Ryscavage, director of the Center for Faith and Public Life and professor of sociology, discussed the Center’s work and why it is important for Catholic schools to prepare students as humanitarians. More specifically, he spoke about JUHAN, and about a pair of immigration reform related projects. One is entitled, “Strangers as Neighbors: Religious Language and the Response to Immigrants in the United States,” for which the Center received a planning grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. He also elaborated on a two-year, $200,000 grant from the Ford Foundation to study the education of undocumented students at Jesuit universities. Fairfield University will lead the project, collaborating with Santa Clara University in California and Loyola University Chicago.

Appeared on Catholic TV program, ‘This is the Day’ on 11/19/10
