Alumni profiled on MSNBC; Chuck Todd talks of Fairfield talk

Two alumnae – Sarah-Jane Henry, M.A. ’11 and Kristen Record ’99 – were both invited to take part in the second annual Teacher Town Hall, broadcast live at noon on Sunday, Sept. 25th, on MSNBC. NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams moderated the discussion on the most important challenges and opportunities facing America’s teachers, and feature examples of great teaching from various schools and classrooms across the country. Henry, who holds an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, is an art teacher from Barnum School in Bridgeport. Record, a physics major who teaches at the high school level in Stratford, recently received a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching from President Barack Obama. Earlier in the week Chuck Todd, chief White House correspondent and political director for NBC News, kicked off the 2011-12 season of Open VISIONS Forum at the Quick Center for the Arts. He mentioned the University the very next day on his MSNBC morning show The Daily Rundown, even giving a shout out to the Stags, who he hopes make it to the NCAA tournament this year.

Appeared on MSNBC on 9/18/11
