Gita Rajan, Ph.D., professor of English in the College of Arts & Sciences, interviewed by the News 12 television program ‘Education Notebook’

Dr. Rajan discussed “Impact India 2021: Elevating the Value of Women and Girls in Society,” a project she co-directed with Fr. Richard Ryscavage, S.J., director of Fairfield’s Center for Faith and Public Life. Led by the Center for Faith and Public Life, the project involves a pilot study that explored how gender dynamics and family pressures in India have resulted in the birth of a significantly greater number of boys than girls. Fairfield professors hope “Impact India” will ultimately lead to concrete projects in education and workforce development for young people. A phase two of the research is also in the works.
