The School of Engineering welcomed new dean Bruce Berdanier, formerly professor and department head of Civil and Environmental Engineering at South Dakota State University (SDSU). In addition to having spent the past 17 years in academia, Dr. Berdanier managed his own consulting engineering company from 1983-2007. The focus of his research and consulting relates to the distribution and interactions of various chemical compounds in studies of surface water quality and in municipal wastewater treatment.
This past summer, Dr. Berdanier led a group of Fairfield and SDSU students on a trip to create the infrastructure needed to provide clean water to a rural community in Bolivia. He is currently overseeing the School’s move to the Bannow Science Center.
