School of Engineering and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation Present ‘Excellence in Mathematics and Science Awards’ to Area High School StudentsSubmitted by Meg McCaffrey on August 28, 2009
Fairfield University’s School of Engineering and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation recently honored top high school students from all over Fairfield and New Haven counties at the 13th annual ‘Excellence in Mathematics and Science Awards.’ The event recognized high school juniors from 35 area schools for their outstanding work and commitment to the study of science and mathematics.
Co-sponsored by the School of Engineering and Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft, the event honored students from public, private and parochial schools.
E. Vagos Hadjimichael, Ph. D., dean of the School of Engineering, and Susan Hitchcock, director of community relations for Sikorsky Aircraft, presented 35 students with medals and certificates for their academic accomplishments at a ceremony held on the Fairfield campus at Alumni House. The students were nominated for the honor by their respective principals and teachers.
