Ten CAS staff members and department chairs participated in a day of community service alongside returning student leaders on August 27th. They worked for half a day at the St. Charles food pantry in Bridgeport, which needed help cleaning their donation room, organizing housewares and other items, and preparing the St. Charles to meet rising need in the surrounding neighborhoods. Staff at the St. Charles noted that, while their food pantry generally feeds around 7,000 families, last year they grew to feeding 17,000 given rising unemployment and other economic difficulties. The day of service followed the annual CAS Department Chairs Retreat.
