Dr. Daniel Geller, Chair of the Psychological and Educational Consultation Department Establishes Exchange Program with Saint Catherine’s AcademySubmitted by Maureen Hinkley on September 16, 2009
Dr. Susan D. Franzosa, Dean and Professor of the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions, is delighted to announce the school’s new exchange program with Saint Catherine’s Academy of Fairfield. This summer 160 guests, including Bishop Lori, spent an evening on campus to raise scholarship money for the school.
The Academy, which serves special needs individuals, is located at Holy Cross Parish of Fairfield and has expanded to 21 students ranging from 5 to 21 years of age. Due to the efforts of Dr. Daniel Geller the master’s degree students in his course “Introduction to Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities” now will have the unique opportunity to conduct their observation hours at Saint Catherine’s Academy.
In addition, this spring students of Saint Catherine’s will come to Fairfield University’s campus for an inclusive experience. Dr. Geller is very enthusiastic about this new exchange program for both the students in his course and the special needs students of Saint Catherine’s Academy that will come to the university.
