Parents’ Weekend Symposium Exploring Creative Interdisciplinary Enterprises and Collaboration in the Arts

Submitted by Jo Yarrington on September 21, 2009

Join us during Parents’ Weekend on Oct. 23-24 for the Symposium Exploring Creative Interdisciplinary Enterprises and Collaboration in the Arts.

The symposium will be focusing on an exploration of creative enterprises and interdisciplinary collaborations. Professors Bridgford and Yarrington hope through this project to help further the study and teaching of the humanities as well as focus on the integration of core courses in writing and visual arts. The symposium will be comprised of a panel presentation and round table discussion on collaborative enterprises, a book exhibition, and workshops in art, poetry, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The symposium is based on the experiences acquired during the development and recent completion of an artist book project, bound as a set of three books and entitled Travel. Professors Bridgford and Yarrington conceived, spear-headed, and developed the project during the past two and a half years with two other poets and fourteen other printmakers, all either independent artists or artists/professors in over four states in the northeast.
