The Adult Circus Comes to Fairfield

news_gen_adult_circus_091At eight o’clock on Friday, September 11, 2009, Fairfield’s campus was treated to a night at the circus, minus the creepy clowns and elephants. What we got was “The Adult Circus,” the self proclaimed “Variety Show for Adults and Gifted Children” full of stunts and laughter which has been featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and has toured the country, performing at well over 300 schools nationwide.

The show, which was performed on the lower level of the Barone Campus Center, was a FUSA-organized event, one of many throughout the year that are aimed at giving people weekend activities that are fun and free. On this particular night, the usual two-man performance was a one-man show featuring the many talents of Mike Dubois. Acts included:

  • Juggling up to seven objects at once
  • A gross-out trick involving the performer’s nose and a balloon
  • A six-foot unicycle ride whilst straight jacketed

The audience audibly gasped at the juggling of knives, cringed with the balloon trick, and clapped along to the beat with a jump rope unicycle trick. Mike had the crowd yelling along to the music, jumping out of their seats to see what he could do next, and clearly having a good time.

The circus, specifically targeted towards college students, incorporates dangerous stunts, numerous tricks, and audience participation, making it a highly anticipated show for everyone on campus. Fairfield was treated to a night of jaw-dropping feats and many laughs with the one-man show, and everyone left the event with a smile on their face and a story to tell their friends who missed out.

FUSA strives to bring quality entertainment to campus each weekend, and The Adult Circus represented a great start to on-campus activities for the year. For more information on Mike and The Adult Circus, visit their website.
