On Wednesday, December 2, 2009, the final installment of Fairfield University’s “The Russian Hour” was celebrated with an array of speakers, students, and faculty members. The event, which ran from 1 to 2 in the afternoon, boasted professors from every department who traveled to Russia at some point in their lives, and who wanted to share their experiences and reactions to their times there.
The round table discussion was geared towards encouraging students to take an interest in studying abroad in Russia, and to visit the beautiful country for themselves. The professors were thoughtful enough to bring souvenirs and photographs, as well as endless stories, all gathered from their respective trips. Many recalled their first thoughts when landing in the foreign country, what first got them interested in Russia, and their recommendations for traveling abroad.
The event was a wonderful end to the semester for The Russian Hour, and Fairfield looks forward to equally successful future semesters.
