Homecoming & Family Weekend: Glee Club Concert
Submitted by Genevieve Bleidner '13 on October 26, 2010
From October 23-24, Fairfield University welcomed scores of parents and alumni for the annual Homecoming and Family Weekend celebration. Activities planned for the weekend on campus included lectures, brunch, and mass, which were aimed at bringing to campus an atmosphere of fun and relaxation.
On the final day of the weekend, directly following a mass and brunch in honor of our campus guests, Fairfield University’s oldest organization on campus, the Glee Club, performed a special and enjoyable concert in the Quick Center for the Arts. The rows of seats filled up quickly with parents, students, and alumni who watched and listened as the curtain rose and the club began performing selections from the past 64 years in which they have existed. From favorites such as “Viva la Musica!” to the more modern “Empire State of Mind,” there was something for everyone in this performance.
Included in the performance was the chamber singers, Sweet Harmony, an all-female group, and the Bensonians, an all-male group, as well as the Glee Band. The performances delivered by each were remarkable, and the concert was a wonderful way to end a relaxing and enjoyable weekend with parents, students, and alumni.
