On Thursday, November 4th, the Career Planning Center coordinated the annual Nursing Career Fair hosted in the Kelley Center. Students eagerly arrived with resumes to speak with employers. Representatives from different hospitals such as Danbury Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and UConn Health Center were present to speak with students.
Lindsay Parker ’12 observed that “as a junior, it’s nice to see technical opportunities that are geared to students, especially internships, and not just to registered nurses. It was perfect for me because many of the employers present are from Hartford County, which is where I am from.”
Employers were enthusiastic about recruiting Fairfield students, who are “prepared, engage well, and have extensive clinical experience,” stated Denise Jenkins, St. Vincent’s Medical Center’s healthcare recruiter. Tiffany Mohammed, a recruiter from Hartford Hospital, added, “The Nursing Program at Fairfield has an excellent reputation. Several Fairfield students have also gone through our Patience Care Assistant Program. The experience working with them has always been positive.”
Waves of nursing students, from freshmen to seniors, attended the career fair. Students left with new hope and enthusiasm about the many internship and post-graduation opportunities.
