Prof. Jo Yarrington Wins Wall Award

Submitted by Nina M. Riccio on July 27, 2011

Professor Jo Yarrington of the Studio Art Department is the recipient of the Robert E. Wall Award for the 2011-12 academic year. Her project, “Global Mapping – The Completion of an Interdisciplinary Collaborative Three Book Series with Poet and Professor Kim Bridgeford,” reflects a shared journey around the convergence of art and poetry.

According to Professor Yarrington, “each book was to be created by taking a shared journey to an isolated place and then responding to that location.” Both professors produce their work independently so that the common influence is the shared journey to their destinations, including Iceland, Venezuela, and Bhutan. Professor Yarrington will present the results of her research in September 2012 to the Fairfield University community.

The Robert E. Wall Award is presented annually by the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs to a tenured faculty member to pursue a major research project. The submissions are judged by the deans of the schools and colleges and the Chair of the Faculty Research Committee.
