The heavy rains and piercing lightening on the night of September 30th did not deter hundreds of students who attended the 8th annual Presidential Ball, held by the Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J., President of Fairfield University. Pres Ball, as the students call it, is the most highly-anticipated event of the fall and is held on Bellarmine Lawn under a giant white tent that covers an absolutely packed dance floor. This year, students were given neon green bracelets rather than tickets, and it was recommended that they wear white so they would glow, in keeping with the “club” theme of the year. Upon entering Bellarmine, students dressed in their absolute best were offered an opportunity to take a picture with Fr. von Arx, part of the tradition of the evening. Lights strobed and music blasted as the night went on, with students enjoying hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and a night off from the stresses of schoolwork. After hours of dancing and letting go, the dance floor finally began to clear around midnight. Exhausted students and their friends made their way back to their rooms to wrap up one of the best fall nights on campus.
