More than 100 children from 3 after-school programs in Bridgeport – Cardinal Shehan Center, Orcutt Boys & Girls Club, and McGivney Center – recently arrived on campus in full Halloween attire for an early Halloween treat hosted by dozens of student volunteers at Fairfield University.
This is the fourth year that the University has hosted local children for a Halloween party followed by trick-or-treating in the student residences. The youngsters’ afternoon started with a stop at the Barone Campus Center’s Oak Room, which was transformed into a small haunted house to the delight of our special guests. After pizza, the children were guided by students to the north side of campus where 18 townhouses gave out candy to the trick or treaters.
Jamie Fleming ’13 said of the event, “I’m so glad I took part in the activities. The kids had so much energy and seemed to really enjoy themselves. I was really happy to be able to give them an opportunity to celebrate Halloween. It was rewarding to see how excited they were to be there and to know how much fun they had at Fairfield.”
