In 2008, The Charles F. Dolan School of Business created the Sophomore Symposium, a program developed to help students successfully navigate their college career.

Continuing last year’s new format, two symposiums will be offered, one per semester. The fall symposium focused on the academic programs and co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities. The second symposium, scheduled for February 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the Baron Campus Center’s Oak Room, will provide an overview of professional skills development and career preparation. The interactive discussion will cover the following topics:

*          Professional Journeys – Road to Success/Career Changes/Graduate School

*          Professional Skills Development

*          Resume/Cover letter suggestions

*          Networking Suggestions

*          Interview Skills – Recommendations and Pitfalls

Assistant Dean Heather Petraglia, who is also the Director of Undergraduate Programs, said, “The Sophomore Symposia provide students with the necessary resources to successfully navigate their college career and foster professional development and offers a unique opportunity for business students to connect with experienced and recent alumni.  The event was offered for the first time last year and feedback was exceptionally positive, with students noting specifically the benefits of learning from successful alum who were once in their shoes.”
