Our motivation to give back to Fairfield is quite simple—the Fairfield community is now part of our family. We are blessed to have our children at Fairfield and feel that it is only natural to support a community that has given so much to our children. We feel that this is only the beginning of our relationship with Fairfield! We look forward to a long and active relationship with the school community!

About our family

Our two sons attend Fairfield University. Thomas, a junior, is a new media major and our son Will, a freshman, is a communications major. Our daughter Colleen is a 2013 graduate of Boston University. All three of our children attended Catholic grammar school as well as high school. We wanted a faith-based education as part of their foundation.

Why Fairfield

Fairfield was both our sons’ first choices once they visited campus for the day. The tours were very informative, our student tour guides were fantastic and the campus was beautiful. The Jesuit community was extremely welcoming and the boys commented that it “felt like home.” The other attraction for our sons was the breadth of subject areas to study. Both are still forming their ideas on what exact field they would like to end up in, and the strong liberal arts foundation gives them both an enormous exposure to many different areas. The extracurricular activities were also a big attraction for the boys.

Building Memories at Fairfield

Thomas’s favorite memories would definitely be around living in Loyola during his sophomore year. He loved living in Loyola and spending time in the Commons. Thomas would also has fond memories of the various projects that he has been involved with as a new media major. Fr. Jim Mayzik, S.J., has been a mentor, teacher, and friend who has been tremendously influential to Thomas. He is studying abroad for the semester (fall 2013) and traveling throughout Europe making many more terrific memories!

Will is really enjoying settling into Fairfield, enjoying his classes, making friends, and becoming an active member of the Fairfield community. He is especially happy to be pursuing his interest in singing with the Glee Club as well as with the Chambers and with the Bensonians!

A Parents’ Perspective

As parents, we feel so blessed that our boys are at Fairfield. The community is so welcoming and from the minute the boys landed on campus, they were happy to be there! For a parent, it is the best feeling in the world to see your child in an environment that is supportive and encouraging. They are both growing as young men, in ways that we always dreamed for them. The Fairfield community is just the best—faculty, students, administration.
