I’m thrilled to say I’ll be working for Google. At Fairfield, I’ve really learned to multitask, and that’s what they’re looking for.

Jen Miller

Major: Marketing

Minor: English (Professional Writing)

Hometown: Portola Valley, CA

Extracurricular: Co-Founder of Fairfield’s Face AIDS Chapter, Intramural Sports Supervisor, FUSA

How She’s Getting Us All To Face AIDs

I’m the co-founder of Fairfield’s Face AIDS chapter – it’s a national movement to mobilize and inspire students to fight AIDS in Africa. I took a chance and called Bill Clinton’s office and asked him to be the keynote speaker at the national Face AIDS conference, which Fairfield hosted. I was hoping we’d get him, but his schedule didn’t allow it.

What She’s Fighting For

Health care, human rights, and basic fairness. It’s about helping marginalized people get what everyone deserves: food, water, medicine.

How She Got Involved

I run Fairfield’s intramural sports program with ten other supervisors. I’ve been involved with the student government for four years. I’m the head of an off-campus students’ association; I coordinate volunteer programs with local organizations. So, yeah: I don’t hold back.

Why She Came To Fairfield

A Jesuit education is distinctive. You’re encouraged to get involved with the community, serve the needy, challenge yourself. And then you put it all together – mind, spirit, and service. It’s all part of you.

What She’ll Do Next

I’m thrilled to say I’ll be working for Google. At Fairfield, I’ve really learned to multitask, and that’s what they’re looking for. I’m also applying to MBA programs at Jesuit universities. I like the Jesuit mentality. It stays with you for life.
