I have a passion for Fairfield because of the education I received and the friendships I have made, along with the readiness I believe I had upon graduation. It’s only natural to want give back to a University that gave so much to me! Hopefully, my support and passion will influence future students to have as awesome an experience at Fairfield as I did.

Why Fairfield

When I took a tour of Fairfield University’s campus I loved everything I experienced. My tour guide, Hutch Williams ‘08, had a contagious passion for Fairfield. I was hooked instantly! I immediately knew there would be countless opportunities for me on campus. The sense of community and student life that Fairfield fosters is what appealed to me. I knew I would receive not only a great education, but I would continue to grow spiritually and contribute to social justice. This would be an extension of my education at Fairfield Prep where I received an education of high standards and learned the Jesuit philosophy of being “a man for others.”

Favorite Fairfield Memories

Honestly, my favorite memories about my time at Fairfield all relate to the sense of community of my class. Our Class of 2010 was very cohesive and we worked together on so many events. We shared so many life-touching experiences as class that a special bond developed. This created a tight connection among us, which forged unique and special friendships that I believe will last a lifetime and have made my Fairfield experience so exceptional.

I received support from so many faculty and staff members throughout my four years at Fairfield. Everyone always welcomed me and I always felt I had encouragement and guidance from the entire Fairfield community.

After Fairfield

After graduating from Fairfield, I was hired by Target. I trained in the Target University business program and held a store management position for two years. I then took a position working for an indirect AT&T agent. The management experience I received at Target and in my last position led me to my next career choice. About a year ago, I began working for Verizon Wireless as an Account Executive, assisting in business and consumer accounts.

What skills and values do you take with you from Fairfield

The management minor I received, along with the campus activities I became involved in, truly assisted me in developing my leadership and management skills. Having the privilege of being a member of the Fairfield University Budget Committee provided me a very unique and valuable opportunity as a student. This experience proved to me that the administration makes decisions for the betterment of Fairfield U’s students. I realized everyone has a voice to be heard, and the committee was always interested in what a student representative could contribute. There was such value in participating and witnessing the decision making process that occurred on that committee.

Additionally, chairing Fairfield University’s Relay for Life for four years assisted me in honing my organizational and project management skills. I had the pleasure of working along with businesses and citizens in the Fairfield area who contributed to Relay for Life in so many dimensions. Organizing the students to raise thousands of dollars through numerous campus fundraisers once again proved the sense of community that existed on campus.

Lastly, sitting on the executive cabinet of FUSA was an experience where team and community building activities occurred. All these campus activities resulted in such a rewarding experience for me knowing I was able to make a contribution to the University, campus life, and the American Cancer Society.

Why do you give back?

My tour guide’s passion, that day I first visited Fairfield, was instilled in me. I truly believe that Fairfield University prepared me intellectually, spiritually, and socially for my life beyond graduation. It paved the way for me professionally. Spiritually, the Jesuit philosophies will be carried with me for my entire life. Socially, Fairfield allowed me to realize that I can always make a just contribution to society.

I have a passion for Fairfield because of the education I received and the friendships I have made, along with the readiness I believe I had upon graduation. It’s only natural to want give back to a University that gave so much to me! Hopefully, my support and passion will influence future students to have as awesome an experience at Fairfield as I did.
